Overview:

“Mountains are mountains everywhere, water is water everywhere, sky is sky everywhere, and people are people everywhere.
Yet, if sitting before the Alps you try to imagine the Himalayas — something subtle but convincing will still be missing.”
— Nicholas Roerich

Itinerary:

Day 1. Leh — Gateway to the Sky
Altitude: 3,500 m
The aircraft glides above snow-covered Himalayas, and beneath the wings unfolds Ladakh — a land of light and silence.
Arrival and transfer to The Grand Dragon Ladakh (Premier Heritage Room) overlooking the snowy peaks of Stok Kangri.
The day is reserved for rest and gentle acclimatization: hot ginger tea, a light lunch, pure mountain air.
In the evening — a short walk through old Leh: prayer flags, juniper incense, the first breaths of altitude.
Overnight in Leh.
Day 2. Old Leh — Chronicles of a Caravan Kingdom
Walk through the ancient Silk Route streets. Visit the Central Asian Museum — once a caravanserai.
Explore the Munshi House — a 19th-century merchant residence. Climb to Leh Palace, the 17th-century royal palace.
Visit Tsemo Namgyal Fort for panoramic views. Sunset over snow peaks. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 3. Thiksey — Hemis — Gotsang: The Path of Prayer
Early morning prayer at Thiksey Monastery. Sounds of conch shells, drums, and yak-butter lamps.
Visit Hemis Monastery, the largest monastery of the Drukpa Kagyu order.
Hike (approx. 1 hour) to Gotsang hermitage, a meditation retreat of monks. Picnic in the mountains.
Return to Leh. Dinner by the fireplace.
Day 4. Across Khardung La to Nubra Valley
Altitude: 5,602 m
Cross one of the highest motorable passes in the world.
Prayer flags flutter in the icy wind. Arrival in Nubra Valley.
Accommodation at Lchang Nang Retreat (Premium Room).
Dinner by the fire under the winter starry sky.
Day 5. Tirrisa Tso — Murgi Petroglyphs — Samstanling
Drive to Tirrisa Tso Lake — a mirror between earth and sky.
Explore the ancient Murgi petroglyphs (over 5,000 years old).
Picnic at the foot of the mountains.
Visit Samstanling Monastery for evening prayers. Momo cooking masterclass.
Quiet bonfire and Himalayan night sky.
Day 6. Wari La Pass — Chemday Monastery — Return to Leh
Drive along the Shyok River valley.
Cross Wari La Pass (5,300 m).
Visit Chemday Monastery, perched on a cliff like a guardian of time.
Return to Leh.
Farewell dinner at the hotel.
Day 7. Farewell to the Himalayas
Transfer to the airport.
You depart carrying not only photographs, but an inner stillness and strength gifted by the mountains.

Travel Recommendations

Minimal physical activity during the first 24–48 hours for altitude adaptation.
Use high SPF sun protection (UV radiation at 3,500 m is intense).
Drink plenty of water and ginger tea. Respect monastery etiquette (modest clothing, photography only with permission).
Leave no trace in nature. The mountains listen and remember.
If desired, I can prepare a refined premium brochure version for the aleVSham Travel Collection with a stronger expedition and philosophical emphasis inspired by Roerich’s Himalayan vision.
