A sacred journey to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar
Mt. Kailash is situated in the western part of Tibet, in the Ngari region of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. It is one of the most sacred spiritual and adventurous destinations for pilgrims and travellers from around the world.
This region is considered the source of water for many parts of South Asia, as four great rivers originate from this sacred area. Lake Manasarovar and Mt. Kailash are deeply respected by followers of Hinduism, Buddhism, Bon and Jain traditions.
According to Hindu belief, Mt. Kailash is the holy abode of Lord Shiva. The circumambulation of this sacred mountain, known as Kailash Kora or Parikrama, is believed to bring spiritual purification and liberation.
The Kailash region is a high-altitude, dry and remote area, rich in alpine flora and fauna. It is known as one of the most powerful spiritual landscapes in the world, surrounded by the long Himalayan range, sacred lakes, monasteries and dramatic Tibetan plateau scenery.
